Privacy policy for TV Remote Tracker
Effective and last updated: October 25, 2026
Prince of Apps (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides TV Remote Tracker, an iPhone app with TV remote controls, a TV and movie tracker, customizable skins, and in-app purchases. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app and its widget. Our website privacy information covers visits to this website separately.
- No app account is required. Saved TVs, pairing credentials, your viewing library, and app preferences are stored on your device.
- Online features contact external services. TMDB receives requests for search results, title information, and images.
- Firebase provides usage analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration. Analytics can be disabled in the app; crash reporting remains enabled.
- Apple processes in-app payments. We do not receive your payment card details.
1. Information used on your device
TV connections. To discover, pair with, and control a TV, the app processes local network addresses, TV names, manufacturer and model information, available TV apps, and device capabilities. Saved device information is stored locally. Pairing certificates, keys, and authorization tokens are stored using the iOS Keychain. If available or entered by you, a TV’s MAC address may be stored to support waking it over the network.
Remote commands and any text you enter through the remote keyboard are sent to the TV you control. The app does not include that typed text, pairing codes, credentials, TV names, or full network addresses in its custom analytics events.
Your tracker. Your watchlist, viewing history, episode progress, reactions, selected streaming services, watch region, recent searches, and related preferences are stored locally. The app and its widget share the local information needed to display your next episode and update progress. We do not operate an account-based cloud library or a sync service for this information.
Personalization and purchases. Settings, notification preferences, coin balances, reward history, levels, unlocked skins, and purchase entitlement records are stored locally as needed to provide those features. Information stored on your iPhone may be included in device backups according to your Apple settings and iOS storage rules.
2. Requests to online services
The Movie Database (TMDB). The app requests movie and TV information, search results, streaming availability, and images from TMDB. Depending on the feature, these requests include your search terms, title or external identifiers, language, and selected watch region. TMDB and its delivery providers receive your IP address and technical request information when your device connects. Selecting a watch region does not require precise device location. Read TMDB’s privacy policy.
Importing from Trakt files. If you choose to import a Trakt export, the app reads the files you select to import viewing history, watchlist entries, and ratings. It processes the files on your device; matching titles can send title or external identifiers to TMDB. The app does not upload your export files to our servers or sign in to your Trakt account.
Opening a title or sharing content. When you choose a streaming shortcut, trailer, external link, or “Watch on TV” action, the selected TV, app, or service receives the information needed to open it, which can include the title identifier. If you share a recap, exported diagnostics, or other content, your chosen recipient or service receives what you share under its own privacy practices.
3. Analytics, crash reports, and remote configuration
We use Google Firebase and Google Analytics to understand how features are used, diagnose faults, improve connection reliability, and manage app configuration.
- Usage analytics: app and screen activity, session duration, counts and categories of remote actions, connection and pairing outcomes, TV manufacturer/model/software information, feature usage, selected skin, bucketed progression and library counts, and purchase-related events. A salted identifier specific to an installation may distinguish saved devices without sending their names or addresses.
- SDK information: Firebase and Analytics may process app-instance or installation identifiers, device and operating system information, app version, language, approximate geographic information, and network request information. These identifiers distinguish installations; we do not set a name, email address, or account ID as an analytics user ID.
- Crash and error reports: Firebase Crashlytics receives crash traces, app and device information, diagnostic error codes, and installation/session identifiers to help find and fix faults.
- Remote configuration: Firebase Remote Config contacts Google to retrieve feature settings and configuration values, using technical request information and installation identifiers.
Our custom telemetry excludes TV names, full IP and MAC addresses, pairing secrets, typed keyboard text, movie or show titles, title identifiers, tracker search text, and imported file names. Tracker events use categories, counts, and service identifiers rather than your viewing library. This restriction on custom events does not prevent external services from receiving the information needed to answer their own network requests.
Analytics choice. In the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, based on the device region or App Store storefront, analytics remains off until you allow it. Elsewhere, analytics is enabled by default. You can change the analytics setting at any time in the app’s Settings. When disabled, new analytics events are not collected by the app’s analytics integration; this does not automatically delete information already sent.
Crash reporting is separate. Crashlytics and Remote Config remain active when usage analytics is disabled. Crash reporting supports reliability and error diagnosis; remote configuration supports app behavior. We do not use the app’s data for cross-app advertising tracking, and the app does not request Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA).
Google processes information under its applicable service and data protection terms. See Firebase’s privacy and security information and Google’s privacy policy.
4. In-app purchases
Apple’s StoreKit processes purchases such as coin packs and Supporter access. Apple handles your Apple Account and payment details; we do not receive your card number or banking information. The app receives product, transaction, verification, refund, and entitlement information needed to deliver purchases, prevent duplicate credits, and restore eligible purchases. Purchase events and revenue information may also be processed by Analytics when analytics is enabled. See Apple’s privacy policy.
5. Permissions and optional system features
- Local network: used to discover and connect to TVs. Denying it prevents or limits TV discovery and control.
- Notifications: used with your permission for locally scheduled episode reminders. These are not Firebase push notifications.
- Files: the app can read the Trakt export files you explicitly select using the system file picker.
- Widgets, Siri, and Spotlight: viewing information can be made available to the app’s widget, App Intents, and on-device search so those features can show titles and update progress. Apple’s system settings and privacy practices apply to those system features.
The app does not need access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location to provide TV controls and tracking.
6. Information you choose to send us
If you contact us, we receive the information you send, such as your email address, message, and attachments, and use it to respond and resolve your request. You can choose to export a diagnostics file from Settings. It contains app/device version information, saved-device counts, and recent diagnostic logs, with network details redacted. Exporting opens the system share interface; it does not automatically send the file to us. Review any file before sharing it.
7. How information is used and shared
We use information to provide app features, process purchases, respond to support requests, maintain security and reliability, understand usage where analytics is enabled, and improve the app. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
Information is disclosed to the providers described above to perform those functions, to recipients you choose, or when reasonably necessary to meet a legal obligation, protect rights and security, or address fraud or misuse. We use service providers under their applicable privacy, security, and data processing terms. External TV, streaming, and other services also handle information under their own policies.
8. Retention and deletion
Local information remains on your device until you remove it, use an available reset or deletion control, or remove the app’s local data. Local caches may be refreshed or replaced as the app operates. The diagnostic log is a limited in-memory buffer of recent events. Exported files remain wherever you save or share them.
Provider information is retained according to the relevant service’s configuration, purposes, and retention rules. Analytics data is subject to the configured Google Analytics retention period; aggregated reports may remain longer. Firebase states that Crashlytics keeps crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before starting removal from live and backup systems. Remote Config installation identifiers are subject to Firebase’s installation retention and deletion rules. Apple and TMDB apply their own retention policies.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to answer your request, handle related issues, and meet necessary business or legal record-keeping obligations. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymized where practicable.
Deleting tracker data does not delete coins, skins, levels, Apple purchase records, device backups, exports you shared, or information already processed by external providers. Uninstalling the app may leave Keychain credentials or backups under Apple’s storage rules; you can also revoke the remote’s authorization on your TV. We cannot remotely erase information stored only on your iPhone.
9. Your choices and privacy requests
- Change the analytics setting in the app’s Settings to enable or disable future usage analytics.
- Use Settings → Tracker → Clear search history to remove recent tracker searches.
- Use Settings → Tracker → Delete tracker data to delete your local watchlist, library, reactions, selected services, and related tracker information. Coins, skins, and your level remain.
- Remove saved TVs using the device management controls. You can revoke pairing authorization on the TV itself.
- Manage local network access, notifications, backups, and Siri/search features in iOS settings as applicable.
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us using the details below to make a request. We may need information to verify and locate the relevant records. Because there is no app account and much of the data remains local, we may be unable to associate a particular analytics or crash record with you. Turning off analytics does not switch off crash reporting or remote configuration.
10. International processing and security
Providers such as Google, Apple, and TMDB may process information in countries other than your own. Their applicable privacy notices and data processing terms describe international transfer arrangements. We use iOS app storage and Keychain protections for local information and HTTPS for supported internet services. TV communication uses the protocols supported by your TV; some local-network protocols are unencrypted, so use a trusted network. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
11. Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and address it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as app features, providers, or information practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice or seek consent for relevant changes.
